PEC, Chickasaw Nation and Mercy Hospital Host All-American Blood Drive July 7

To keep the blood supply strong through the July 4th weekend, Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is urging PEC members and Ada area residents to make donation a priority.  The 7th Annual All-American Blood Drive of Ada, sponsored by PEC, the Chickasaw Nation, and Mercy Hospital will occur at 1710 North Broadway - Agri Plex Convention Center, Thursday, July 7, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Two tickets to an Oklahoma City Dodgers baseball game will be awarded to each person who donates a pint of blood.

Each blood donor will also receive two free tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo, a zoo-themed T-shirt, and be entered in to a drawing to win one of many door prizes offered by the event sponsors: electric smoker, ice cream maker, television set, Bedre Chocolate Baskets and more!

Anyone, 16 and older* and, generally in good health, can likely donate blood.

Holidays put incredible stress on the blood supply for patients in our state, said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and chief executive. We are grateful for all donors who can take time during the holiday week to help Oklahomans who will need blood through the summer.

Oklahoma Blood Institute volunteer donors provide every drop of blood needed by patients in 161 medical facilities and air ambulances across Oklahoma, including Mercy Hospital of Ada and the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

Each pint of blood can help save three lives. This is a tremendous gift to our community. Since 2009 when PEC first teamed up with the Chickasaw Nation, Mercy Hospital (Ada) and the Oklahoma Blood Institute, up to 3,500 lives have been saved as a direct result of local donors' efforts during this annual event.
