Topics: Press Releases

People’s Electric Cooperative (PEC) announced the top ten finalists in the co-op’s 2019 Youth Tour contest. Beginning in January, representatives from PEC visited with interested high school juniors at Ada, Allen, Byng, Calvin, Coalgate, Holdenville, Latta, Mill Creek, Roff, Stonewall, Stratford, Tupelo and Vanoss. Over 100 students were administered a written exam throughout the month of February at the participating schools.

The local finalists are Erika Aguirre, Ada; Colton Collins, Holdenville; Macy Davenport, Holdenville; Grace Diacon, Byng; Landon Estes, Latta; Nora Gayler, Roff; Addison McGill, Byng; Gabrielle McMahon-Csaki, Vanoss; Liberty Murray, Byng; and Lane Tusek, Byng. These top ten finalists will compete for three coveted spots to attend the Washington Youth Tour in our nation’s capital this summer, June 14 thru 20.

A panel of three outside judges will conduct personal interviews with the finalists on March 15 and award the three winning delegates the trip to Washington D.C. based on the students’ poise, originality, appearance and personality.

“PEC is excited at this year’s level of participation in our Youth Tour program,” said PEC Executive Vice President and CEO Kevin Wood. “This is an impressive group of students and I have no doubt that any of them could represent People’s Electric very well in Washington D.C. The judges have a tough job ahead of them.”

PEC’s Youth Tour contest is open to 11th grade students enrolled in school (or homeschool) systems located in one of the 11 counties served by PEC.
