Ada, Okla., — Monday morning, a five-man crew from Ada-based People’s Electric Cooperative (PEC) left for Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) located in Hooker, Oklahoma. The PEC crew, composed of Brad Butler, Wes Wainscott, Rusty Stuart, Aaron Brown, and Ryan Stoup, will assist in the restoration efforts following Ice Storm Jupiter’s crippling devastation in the northwest portion of our state. PEC’s VP of Corporate Communications and Community Relations Jennifer Boeck reported that approximately 6,200 member-consumers in Tri-County’s service area were still without power as of Monday morning.

“We are happy to provide mutual aid and assist in the restoration efforts at Tri-County alongside the many other contract and mutual aid crews who are already there working extended hours to restore power in the area,” explained Boeck. “Whenever another co-op’s in trouble, our linemen are ready to go. We understand the importance of helping our neighbor, lending a hand and rebuilding. It’s what we do. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Tri-County officials estimate upwards of 350 poles on their system have snapped. Serving approximately 23,000 households and businesses in the Oklahoma Panhandle, southwestern Kansas, the northern border of the Texas Panhandle and parts of Colorado and New Mexico, Tri-County oversees nearly 5,000 miles of distribution power lines.

“Along with the residents who are still without power, our thoughts and prayers are with all line crews who are working in freezing and challenging conditions to restore power due to the recent ice storm,” said Boeck.
